Description

This is a three-storied corner house, initially shown on maps dating from 1774, with later remodelling occurring in the mid-19th century. The house is rendered, featuring pier strips at the ends, a chamfered corner, and a Marley tile roof. It has one window facing South Parade and two windows facing Christchurch Street West. The windows are simple sash windows. A particularly fine doorcase, featuring a swan-neck pediment broken for an urn and supported by heavily carved scroll brackets and panelled pilasters (a design copied from Nos 13 and 14 Christchurch Street West, the Packhorse Inn), provides access to the building. The door itself is flush, with a crossed-arrows design within the overlight. An interesting shop front, circa 1800, is located on the corner and facing onto Christchurch Street West, characterized by a dentil cornice and a heavily carved fascia set within panelled piers.
