Description
Garnival's Week Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 16th century, with alterations made in the 17th century and mid-20th century. The building is rendered over random rubble and features quoins on the left side. It has a triple Roman tile roof, with a brick stack located at the center left and an external stack on the gable end to the left. The farmhouse has an open hall layout running north-south, with farm buildings attached as an east wing, which is not included in this listing.
The structure is two stories tall and has a long facade with three bays to the left of a 20th-century single-storey porch that is also covered with triple Roman tiles. The windows are 20th-century two-light leaded casements. Inside, the farmhouse has been extensively modernized, but it still showcases exposed jointed cruck trusses that are smoke blackened at the north end. There are also remnants of a 17th-century compartment ceiling, hollow chamfered beams, and a large open fireplace with a chamfered lintel in the room to the left of the entrance. The estate is mentioned in the Domesday Book.
