Description
Church House is a house located on the north side of The Square in Axbridge. It is probably from the 15th century but was rebuilt around 1980. The building features random rubble construction with a pantile roof, coped verges, and a rubble stack. The eastern elevation has south door openings with ogee-mounted stone surrounds and four-centred heads, with the central opening being part of the rebuild and featuring 20th-century plank doors. There are also small barred windows set in a chamfered 20th-century surround between the first and second door openings. Church House is primarily noted for its proximity to the Church of St John the Baptist and its prominent position in The Square.
