Description

This is an early 19th-century building located on the northeast side of Chilkwell Street. It is two storeys high with an attic. The exterior is constructed of stone rubble with a pebble-dash finish, topped with a parapet featuring moulded coping. The roof is slate covered, with one gabled dormer window displaying bargeboards. Horizontal stringcourses run along the facade. There are three windows, each with sash glazing and thin glazing bars set in plain reveals. The stone door surround features Tuscan pilasters and an entablature above a rectangular fanlight, leading to a six-panel door. Numbers 3 and 5 form a group, as do the listed buildings from number 3 to number 17 on the northeast side of the street. This group of buildings, alongside Glastonbury Abbey (on Magdalene Street), Abbey House, the surrounding wall of the Abbey and Abbey House, creates an important architectural grouping.
