Description
Nos 7 and 9 on Chilkwell Street are late 17th century to early 18th century stone rubble cottages that stand at right angles to the road. They are two storeys high and feature pantile roofs. The cottages have four windows, mostly wood casements with two and three lights, some of which have lead glazing. There is one three-light stone mullioned window located in the gable end. Some original hoodmoulds are present, and two windows on the right have segmental brick heads. The buildings also have two plain wooden doors beneath wooden lintels. These cottages are part of a group that includes Nos 3 and 5, as well as other listed buildings from No 3 to No 17 on the north east side, Glastonbury Abbey, Abbey House, and the wall surrounding the grounds of the Abbey and Abbey House, all of which are significant in the area.
