Description

The Chalice School, formerly known as the Manor House, is an early 19th-century building standing within its own grounds. It is two storeys high and constructed of ashlar, partially colourwashed. The building features a moulded cornice and parapet, topped with a hipped slate roof. Moulded pilasters are situated on either side of the front façade. There are three windows with architrave surrounds, each containing sashes with thin glazing bars. A large, central Doric porch is topped with an entablature, sheltering a doorway with a rectangular fanlight and a six-panel door. A two-storey extension, matching the original elevation and incorporating a continuous parapet and cornice, adjoins the right side of the building and is linked by a moulded stringcourse. This extension has one window per storey, each with an architrave surround and a prominent cornice over the ground floor window, and contains sashes without glazing bars.
