Description
This barn, located about 100 meters east of Rectory Farmhouse, dates from the late 18th to early 19th century and may incorporate an earlier structure. It is built of random rubble local stone and features hipped slate roofs that continue as catslides on the returns. The barn has a double threshing design with lean-tos on the sides. There is a 3-bay addition made of breeze block piers and a corrugated asbestos roof, which is not included in the listing. The walls project out on either side of the full-height double doors to create porches. Inside, there is a collar beam roof from the late 18th to early 19th century, and the walls appear to have been raised slightly during a reroofing, suggesting the presence of an earlier structure. The barn is included in the listing primarily for its group value.
