Description
Rectory Farmhouse is an early 19th-century building that now serves as a dwelling. It was constructed on the site of an earlier rectory and underwent changes in the late 20th century, including refenestration. The exterior features red sandstone random rubble that is rendered on the facade, with a slate roof and brick stacks flanking the central bay. The house is double-piled and has two storeys with three bays. The windows are pointed arch head 2-light casements, and there is a central entrance with a square head, a rectangular light, and a half-glazed door that has pointed arch glazing. There are two bay returns on the sides. It is said to contain king post roof trusses similar to those found at Kingston Farmhouse. The pointed arch heads were added in the late 1970s to the existing many-paned 2-light casements. The rectory was sold by the Church Commissioners in the 1970s after the ecclesiastical parish of Raddington was incorporated into Chipstable in 1933.
