Moorland Farmhouse, Gates And Gatepiers On North Side, Railings Fronting House And Remains Of Garden Wall Abutting At Rear

Moorland Farmhouse is a late 18th-century farmhouse that has been extended and altered in the mid-19th century. It features red brick in Flemish bond with hipped roofs, and an L-plan clay tiled roof that includes a double Roman tiled range at the angle. The eaves are boxed, and there are brick stacks at the south gable end and rising from the eaves at the north-west corner.

The west front has two storeys with a layout of 1:3 bays. The left end bay is slightly set back and contains 16-pane sash windows with brick voussoirs above. The left side has 12-pane sashes, while the center features a semi-circular headed sash window. The right side has blind or blocked windows, and there is a central panelled door with a fanlight and panelled reveals. The south front has two bays with 12-pane tripartite sash windows, a 16-pane tripartite sash window on the ground floor right, and French windows with marginal glazing bars on the left, along with a rectangular light above the side-lights. The end bay on the right has been rebuilt, and a butt joint is visible. The south front likely underwent refenestration around 1840, when windows were blocked on the street front and the kitchen was rebuilt at the rear.

On the roof, there is a wooden bell-cote with a weather vane and bell. At the rear, there is a single-storey wing with a triple Roman tiled roof and remains of a garden wall. The gate piers and gates are located at the north-east corner, partially obscured by ivy as of the last survey in August 1985. These consist of square brick gatepiers topped with Ham stone pyramid caps and double cast iron gates with crested uprights. The property also features hollow cast metal bollard-type railings with linking chains, which are possibly from the late 19th century, returning to the entrance of the house.
