Description
Hurstbow Bridge is a road bridge over Hurst Brook, rebuilt in 1848 based on designs by Richard Carver and constructed by local mason George Pearse, using cast iron components supplied by Murch of Bridgwater. The bridge features segmental arched cast iron ribs spanning a single arch, which are decorated and have "March 1848" cast on their outer faces. Above the arch, there are plain cast iron handrails. The wing walls, made of ashlar, curve around all four corners of the bridge and have pyramidal caps on the piers that meet the bridge, with circular curls at the outer ends. Notably, the northeast wing wall is longer than the others. The total cost for the bridge and wing walls was two hundred pounds.
