Description
The east gateway to the churchyard of the Church of St George is a triple gateway built in the early 19th century, possibly designed by Sir Jeffry Wyattville. It features ham stone ashlar piers and wrought-iron gates. The gateway has four octagonal-plan piers with moulded plinths and panelled, gabletted tops. The central piers are taller and have more elaborate tops. On the sides, there are simple pedestrian gates with pointed-arched decoration on the middle rails, while the matching central pair of gates has raked top rails and more pointed-arch ornament. This gateway is part of the setting for the significant Church of St George.
