Description
Watts Lodge is a mid-19th century lodge for Watts House, now known as Cedar Falls, which was enlarged in the mid-20th century. The building features red sandstone random rubble with white stone dressings and quoins, topped with slate roofs that have coped verges and kneelers, along with decorative ridge tiles and a pair of twisted chimneys on the right. It has a "T"-shaped plan, consisting of a gabled block with a gabled cross wing facing southeast, flanked by a conservatory on the right and a single-storey extension on the left. The lodge is one and a half storeys tall and includes a four-light mullioned and transomed canted bay window with a slate roof, and a two-light window above with a rusticated surround and a circular decorative panel in the gable end. A string course of diamond panels continues as a cornice of the single-storey extension, which has a one-bay canted extension to the right featuring a 20th-century window and door. The original entrance is located to the left in the angle of the cross wing, accessed through a single-storey lean-to conservatory that incorporates twisted wooden columns.
