Description
Middle Street House is a large mid to late 19th century house located on an important corner site, with identical frontages facing north and east. The building has three storeys plus a basement and is constructed of yellow brick with a slate roof. It features an eaves band and plain pilasters, along with a band over the ground floor. The Middle Street front has three windows, with the left window blocked, all set in architrave surrounds with sill brackets. The first floor windows have pediments with volutes, while the ground floor windows are topped with cornices that also feature volutes. The central entrance has a round-headed doorcase with a vermiculated keystone and rich foliated capitals, a traceried fanlight, and double three-panel doors. This building, along with No 13 Canon Street, contributes to a cohesive group of listed buildings on the south side of Middle Street, which includes Nos 15 Canon Street.
