Description
Lavenders is a semi-detached cottage, possibly from the 17th century, located on the east side of High Street in Queen Camel. The building is constructed from local lias stone that is roughly cut and squared, and it features a double Roman clay tile roof with coped gables and brick chimney stacks. It stands two storeys tall and has a single gabled bay with a door on the right side. The gable has an unidentified carved finial that projects nearly a metre. There are 20-pane sash windows at both levels, with the lower window featuring a voussoired flat arch and the upper window under a timber lintel. The door is a 6-panel design set in a plain opening without a hood. The north gable contains three blocked windows, and there is a rear extension to the east that has several dates of construction. The interior has not been seen. The cottage is attached on the south side to the Gatehouse.
