Description

Yew Tree Cottage is a detached cottage, probably built in the 18th century. It is constructed from local lias stone that has been cut and squared, topped with a clay pantiled roof featuring stepped coped gables and brick end chimney stacks. The cottage has two storeys and three bays. The windows are three-light horizontal bar casements of an early pattern, except for the first bay, which has a two-light cross-glazed window. The lower windows have exposed timber lintels, and the lower bay two features a 20th-century boarded door with cover moulds in a plain opening, above which is a square label. The interior has not been seen. Yew Tree Cottage is part of a variety of cottages along a stone sett paved pedestrian way leading to the Church of St Barnabas, and it is the closest cottage to the church on the south side. The group of cottages is attractive, though not of special interest.
