Description
This field barn, located on Lottisham Road in West Bradley, is a Grade II listed structure. The roof dates back to the 15th or 16th century, while the rest of the barn appears to have been rebuilt in the mid to late 19th century. It is constructed from coursed and squared lias rubble and features a hipped double Roman tile roof, with some studwork and weatherboarding on the east return. The barn is a single storey with a three-bay interior. The south elevation has three small window openings with wooden lintels, and there is a door opening to the right, although the door was missing during the last survey in September 1984. Inside, there is a raised open cruck roof with collar beams and 19th-century inserted tie beams. It is suggested that the barn may have originally been of domestic use, and the roof could have been reused. The barn is included in the listing primarily for its historical significance.
