Description
House at 13 Bay Hill, built in the late 17th century, was extended in the late 19th century and around 1980. It is constructed of limestone rubble with a thatched roof that is half-hipped on the left side and gabled on the right, featuring a brick ridge stack located to the right of the center. The house has a two-unit plan with two additions on the right (south) side. It stands two storeys high and has a three-window range. A 20th-century door is positioned to the left under a thatched porch supported by wooden columns. This door has been repositioned and was likely originally at the center of the house, where there is now a window. On the ground floor to the right, there are two additional 20th-century windows with concrete lintels. The first floor features two small two-light casements at eaves level. The stack indicates the end wall of the original house, which was later expanded with a single-storey unit in the late 19th century, increased to two storeys, and further extended with a semicircular-plan room around 1980. Inside, to the left of the current door is a 20th-century staircase, and to the right is a stop-chamfered beam and an inglenook fireplace against what was previously an external wall, with a passage to the left leading into the later extension.
