Description
Nos 5 to 9 on The Bridge is a mid to late 19th-century building consisting of two parts, located next to Tone Bridge. The left section has three storeys, while the right section has two storeys. The building is constructed of brick, with the right side painted. It features slate roofs with eaves, and the right side has a hipped roof. Each part of the building has two windows, with sash windows and glazing bars present only on the second floor of the left section. Number 9 includes a small return face on its north side, which has a charming three-light oriel window that overlooks Tone Bridge. The shop fronts for Nos 5 and 7 are modern, while No 9 has modern shop fronts beneath a 19th-century cornice supported by corbels that depict a mermaid and merman resting on scallop shells. Nos 5 to 9 and Tone Bridge are part of a group.
