Description
Rode Primary School is a school building dating from around 1870. It is constructed from coursed and squared rubble and features a half hipped tile roof with fishscale bands and a bellcast. The building has four gabled dormers with Y tracery and exhibits a symmetrical Domestic Revival style. It is one storey high with an attic and has two arcades consisting of four small pointed head arches on turned columns at the ground floor. Trefoils are located between the heads of the arches, which are adorned with decorative wrought iron panelling in a floral style. The lower half of the arcades is currently blocked from the inside, while the heads are glazed. There are door openings on each side, framed by Caernarvon headed chamfered stone surrounds, with diagonal plank doors that have decorative strap hinges. Flanking the doors are recessed stone plaques with raised lettering; the left plaque reads "GIRLS" and "SCHOOL," while the right plaque reads "BOYS" and "SCHOOL."
