Description

The Old Farmhouse is a circa 1700 farmhouse situated on the west side of Compton Street in Compton Dundon. Constructed of local lias stone with squared cuts, and incorporating Ham stone dressings, the building has a double Roman clay tile roof and one brick and one stone chimney stack. It is two storeys high with an attic, arranged over three bays. The windows are hollow-chamfered mullioned, originally of three lights, with separate labels. The lower windows have been modified with metal casements in bays one and two, and an early three-light timber casement in bay three. Two flat-roofed dormer windows are set into the mid roof slope. A boarded door is set within a heavy ovolo moulded frame with a label above. A small glazed stairlight is positioned at a high level to the left of bay one. Early leaded casements are present in the attic gable end. The interior remains unexamined.
