Description
Alford Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with modifications made in the 19th century. It is constructed from local lias and Cary stone rubble, featuring Ham stone dressings. The roof is plain clay tiled, with exposed rafters at the eaves level and plain overhung gables, along with brick and stone chimney stacks. The building has two storeys and consists of six bays, although bays five and six are built differently and have less Cary stone. The windows are ovolo-moulded mullioned types, mostly unleaded, with some featuring iron framed opening lights. The three-light windows are located in bays one, three, and five, while the other bays have two-light windows. In the lower part of bay two, there is a boarded door with a glazed panel, set within an open timber and tiled porch. The interior has not been seen.
