Description
Parsonage Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse with origins dating back to the 16th century. It is constructed from local lias stone that has been cut and squared, and features a triple roll clay tile roof with stepped coped gables and brick chimney stacks. The building has an 'L' plan and consists of two storeys with three bays. Bays one and two have two-light small-pane casement windows under timber lintels, while bay three has a 12-pane sash window under a flat voussoired arch, positioned at mezzanine level. To the right of bays one and two, which includes a mezzanine level, there are six-panel doors in plain openings. Although the interior has not been seen, it is reported to include deep chamfered crossbeams, some with step and run-out stops, a winding staircase in the east gable, one stud and panel partition, and arch-braced tenoned collar trusses, some featuring carved windbraces. Bay three is believed to be a later extension that contains a cider cellar and cheese room, with the cheese racks still in place, and a parlour located above.
