Description

West Barn Grange is a farmhouse, now used as a dwelling, dating to approximately 1775. It is constructed of local limestone rubble with dressed quoins, a moulded stone eaves cornice, a central pediment supported by brackets, and a plain tile roof with coped verges. The building has ashlar stacks with caps. The design follows a ā€œLā€ shape and is in a classical style.

The farmhouse is two storeys high, with a half basement and an attic. It has five bays, featuring 12-pane sash windows with moulded architraves on the ground floor. The upper floor has squat casements in similar surrounds. Basement windows are casements in simpler surrounds. A central arched door opening, accentuated by an emphasised keystone and moulded cornice, is accessed by stone steps with plain iron railings supported by small stone pillars on plinths.
