Description

These three cottages, located within The Yard in Witham Friary, form part of a row. They date from around 1750 and were refronted in approximately the 1860s. Number 38 is constructed of local limestone rubble, while the other two cottages have rendered walls. All three have pantile roofs and brick stacks. Each cottage is two storeys high and has two bays. Number 35 and 36 have 20th-century metal casement windows with stone labels above, while Number 38 features 20th-century wooden casement windows. Central doorways are present in each cottage, except for numbers 35 and 36, with Number 38's doorway being made of wood. Inside Number 36 is a broad fireplace with a wooden lintel in the downstairs room. These cottages are recognised for their group value.
