Description
Numbers 28 (Hartwells) and 30 are a farmhouse that has been converted into dwellings. It dates from the 17th century and was altered in the 20th century. The building features roughcast over rubble and a thatched roof, with brick stacks at the gable ends and the centre left. It has an 'L'-shaped plan comprising three cells and a cross passage with a rear wing. The structure is one and a half storeys high and has five bays. The first floor has early 19th century leaded iron two-light casement windows, some located in eyebrow dormers. The ground floor has similar windows to the right of the entrance, a 20th-century window to the left, and a three-light mullioned and transomed window in the end bay to the right. There is a gabled, weatherboarded porch with pierced timber supports and a plank door in the second bay from the left. The long wing at the rear has been much altered and now contains entrances to Number 28. The interiors have not been viewed.
