Description
The outbuildings located about 15 metres north-east of Avishays date from the 18th century, possibly 1759, as they match the dated north crosswing of Avishays. Originally their function is unknown, but they are now used as a studio. The buildings are constructed of red brick in Flemish bond with Ham stone ashlar dressings and feature a hipped Welsh slate roof. They are single-storey and consist of three bays by one bay. The principal elevation faces west towards the house and includes a plinth and rusticated quoins. The outer bays have beaded mullioned and transomed two-light windows with shallow architraves, while the centre bay features a pair of five-panel doors in a matching architrave, topped with a pediment hood on console brackets. There is a matching window in the south end wall. The linking wall, likely from the 20th century, has plain piers that flank a pair of painted wooden gates, one of which has a wicket. Additionally, there are semi-circular arched niches on either side of the gateway, enhancing the setting of both the house and the outbuilding. The interior of the outbuilding has not been inspected.
