Description
Kildare is a house dating from around the 1830s, with alterations made in the early 20th century. It is constructed of roughcast, likely over limestone rubble, and features stone sills. The house has mid-19th century keystones and stepped copings, along with a slate roof and brick stacks at the gable ends. There are also late 19th or early 20th century keyblocks. The layout is double-depth with a central staircase plan, and the house is two storeys tall with a two-window range. The front has a 20th-century glazed door beneath a mid-19th century vermiculated keystone and a name plaque that reads 'Kildare'. All windows are 8/8 pane sashes with much of the original glass; the ground-floor windows feature mid-19th century vermiculated keystones, while the central first-floor window is blind and has a heavily-painted plaque with the inscription EWP and what appears to be the year 1926.
Inside, there is a wide arch opening between the front and rear left-hand rooms, and the first floor has panelled doors. The staircase is a dog-leg design with stick balusters, turned newels, and moulded handrails. The chimneypieces are missing.
