Description
The King's Head Public House is a mid-19th century public house located on Church Street in Chard. It features a roughcast exterior, likely over limestone rubble, with stone sills and stepped coping on the gable ends. The roof is slate, with pantiles at the rear. The building has a double-depth L-shaped plan and stands two storeys high, with an eight-window range: three facing Old Town and four facing Church Street. There is one off-centre window on a canted bay at the corner, which has mid-20th century double doors. Another door, the third from the right, is also mid-20th century and has vertical glazing bars with an overlight set in a raised surround topped with a cornice. All windows are 6/6-pane sashes with horns, except for two blind windows on the first floor, located to the left of the bay and above the right-hand door, both of which have brackets for inn signs. The interior has not been inspected.
