Description
Holyrood House is a house built around 1840, featuring stucco with Ham Hill stone dressings and a slate roof. The building has a T-shaped plan with a rear extension on the right side. It stands two storeys tall, with an attic in the left crosswing and a one-window range. The main part of the house is also two storeys and has a two-window range. Most windows, except those on the ground floor of the main block, are set under labelled hoodmoulds with chamfered surrounds. The windows include two-lights in the gable and above the door, three-lights to the right of the main block, and a single light in the apex of the gable. The entrance features double doors with long glazed panels topped by Tudor arches and square panels below, divided into three small Tudor-arched sections, positioned at an angle to the right of the main block. There is a full-height three-light window with a transom below a three-light window above it. A semi-glazed loggia extends from the main block to align with the crosswing, supported by four pairs of square cast-iron columns and one single column attached to the crosswing. These columns are hollow with pointed-arched open panels on each side, chamfered square cornices, and plain chamfered square plinths. The interior has not been inspected, but it is noted to contain 19th-century Tudor-style doors and mouldings.
