Description
Oldsway Cottage is a farmhouse that has been converted into two dwellings. It likely originated in the 17th century and was enlarged in the 18th and 20th centuries. The building is roughcast over rubble with a thatched roof that is hipped to the left. There are brick stacks located at the right gable end, between the second and third bays on the right, between the third and fourth bays, and between the fifth and sixth bays.
The plan of the cottage is not clear without an internal inspection, but it may be a three-cell and cross passage house that has been extended by two bays, or it could incorporate a farm building from the 19th century with a 20th-century addition beyond. The cottage is one and a half storeys tall and has six bays. It features 19th and 20th-century casement windows, with a wall that breaks forward in the center. The roof ridge of the two bays on the right is higher than the rest, and all the eyebrow dormers, except for the third window on the left, are set below the eaves. The ground floor entrance is located between the first and second bays on the right, featuring a thatched porch and a 20th-century door, with another entrance on the left return through the hipped addition. The interior has not been seen but could contain features of interest.
