Description
The entrance gateway and boundary wall, dating from the 19th century, are located about 25 metres south of the Old Vicarage on Yeovil Road. Constructed from Ham stone, the gateway features square plan gatepiers with gabletted tops. The principal face of the gatepiers has blind 'plate tracery' panels and circular recesses in the side gablets. The ridge piece runs from front to rear. The gates are early 20th-century wrought iron, designed in a farm-type style, and it appears that one of the gate piers has been relocated. The side sweeps of the piers are straight to the west and convex curved to the east. The boundary wall is made of cut and squared stone with castellated tops, alternating between small and large stones set vertically. This structure contributes to the setting of the house and enhances the streetscape.
