Description
Batcombe House is a detached house located at No. 15 Head Street, dating from the 17th century and later. It is constructed from roughly cut and squared ham stone with ashlar dressings, topped by a clay pantiled roof between coped gables, and features brick and stone chimney stacks. The house has two storeys and four bays with irregular window arrangements. On the upper floor, there are 20th-century casement windows with 2, 3, 3, and 2 lights. The lower floor features hollow-chamfered mullioned windows set in recesses, with 2, 3, and 4 lights; the windows in bays 1 and 2 share the same label, while bay 4 also has a label. In lower bay 3, there is an old boarded door within a heavy timber frame. Lean-to buildings are present against both end gables. The interior has not been seen.
