Description
Court Dairy House, located at No. 24 St Margaret's Lane, is a detached house dating from the 17th or 18th century. It is constructed from cut and squared ham stone, with some coursed rubble, and features a thatched roof with a coped gable on the south side and a plain gable on the north. The house has brick chimney stacks with traditional baffles.
The building is two storeys high and consists of three bays plus one additional bay. The windows are casements with chamfered mullions and iron-framed opening lights, all of which are rectangular-leaded. Most windows are three-light, except for the lower bay 1, which has a four-light window that features a label. The fourth bay, which is of later date, has two-light small-pane casement windows, with the lower window situated under a timber lintel.
In lower bay 2, there is a boarded door set in a very wide cambered-arched timber frame, which may date from the early 20th century. However, a similar doorway, likely the original, can be found in a single-storey extension on the north-east corner of the house, which has a hipped double Roman clay tiled roof. The interior has not been seen.
