Description
Lower Mills is a mill and house, now used as a house, dating from the 18th century. The structure is built of random rubble and features a double Roman tile roof with a coped verge on the right side and three brick ridge stacks. It stands three storeys tall and has three bays. The building showcases three-light stone-mullioned windows set in edge-moulded architraves, along with some two-light stone-mullioned windows in plain stone surrounds. The second floor includes two-light 19th-century casements with horizontal glazing bars and cambered heads. There is a door opening between the first and second bays, framed by an edge-moulded stone architrave, leading to a four-panelled door with each panel set flush. The building occupies a prominent site at the entrance to the village.
