Description

Manor Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse with possible origins in the 17th century, though significantly modified in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The exterior is faced in Ham stone ashlar, with a double Roman clay tiled roof and brick chimney stacks. The building is two storeys and seven bays, with bays 1 to 3 appearing to be later additions. Upper floor windows consist of small-pane casements in bays 1 to 3, a blank bay 4, and horizontal bar casement windows in bays 5 to 7. Ground floor windows in bays 1 and 3 are 20th-century artificial stone mullioned windows with labels; bay 2 has a label extending over the window. Bay 4 has a blocked, cambered arched doorway with a casement window beneath a deep lintel and label. Bays 4, 5, and 7 have hollow-chamfered mullioned windows with unworked top mitres and labels; bay 4 has a 2-light window, bay 5 has a 4-light window, and bay 7 has a 3-light window, although the mullions have been removed from the last. A plain chamfered doorway is found in bay 6, with all lower openings having labels. The interior was not inspected, but fielded-panel shutters were noted in bays 4 and 5, and the room behind these has deep-chamfered crossbeams with run-out stops. 20th-century windows are present in the east gable. The site has been part of an estate since 1086.
