Description
7 Dodington is a cottage that likely dates back to the 16th century. It is constructed of red sandstone random rubble, with some areas partially rendered on the facade. The roof is thatched, and there is a central brick chimney stack. The building has a two-cell plan with the entrance facing the stack. It is a single storey with an attic that is lit from the gable ends. The facade features one 19th-century casement window to the right of a central plank door. To the right of the door, there is a single-storey addition with a pantiled roof and a 20th-century window.
Inside, the cottage has chamfered beams with stops on the left side, while the right side has a covered 20th-century ceiling. There is a modern grate and winder stairs located at the rear. The cottage appears to have one pair of jointed crucks with butt purlins. This building is a rare example of a relatively unaltered two-cell cottage.
