Description
The building is a barn, likely from the 18th century, and a wagon shed from the 19th century, located 20 metres south-west of Manor Farmhouse. It is constructed of local stone rubble coursed and features a plain clay tile roof that is half hipped on the south gable of the barn. The barn is mostly two storeys tall and consists of nine bays, while the wagon shed, which is attached to the north gable, is a single storey with two bays divided by a brick pier. The barn has plain wood casement windows and large doors in the centre of each side wall, with a catslide roof over an extension in the south-east corner. Inside, there are A-frame roof trusses. The north end of the barn contains a brick vaulted cellar with steps leading down to a brick elliptical arched doorway. A stream was directed around the vat platforms for cider storage, with cider being produced in the room above and piped down. This building is part of an important group associated with Manor Farmhouse.
