Description

The monument to William Craddock is a chest tomb located about 27 meters south of the Church of St Mary in Hemington. It dates from the early to mid-18th century and features the only legible inscription, which is dated 1815. The tomb is made of dressed stone and includes a moulded plinth and an oblong chest with corner urn pilasters. Each face of the chest has an oval, with the north and south sides adorned with stylized sheaves of corn and a teazle. The top of the tomb is a hipped slab. Most inscriptions have decayed, except for a fragment on the south side.
