Description

The Old Rectory is a house that was originally built as a rectory, likely in the mid-18th century, with alterations and additions made in the late 18th or early 19th century. The entrance front features dressed stone, a moulded cornice, a parapet with coping, coped verges, and end ashlar stacks, topped with a slate roof and two box dormers. The building is symmetrical, standing two storeys high with an attic and comprising five bays. It has sash windows with glazing bars set in moulded stone architraves, which have emphasised keys, and the central window has a semi-circular head. The central door opening is framed by an architrave with an emphasised key, topped with a slab hood supported by brackets. The door itself is a six-panelled design, with the top two panels being glazed, and there is a lamp on brackets positioned above it. To the left, there is a single bay addition that likely dates from the late 18th or early 19th century, built in a matching style and featuring a hipped slate roof. To the right, there is a lower two-bay addition constructed of coursed rubble, with sash windows that have glazing bars set in plain stone surrounds.
