Description
The Bellett family monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard, about 9 meters southeast of the chancel of the Church of the Holy Cross. This tomb dates from the early 19th century and was restored in the 20th century. It is made of an unidentified stone, possibly Portland. The tomb features a flat-topped moulded cornice and plinth, with the north and south sides divided into three bays. The outer bays have panels with recessed pointed arches, while the center panels are recessed and display white marble shields. The east and west ends are plain, with an inscription found only on the southeast panel, which commemorates Sarah, the wife of John Bellett, who died in 1822.
