Description
Manor Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse dating from the early 17th century, with some modifications. It is built from local lias stone that has been cut and squared, with Doulting stone dressings. The roof is covered with double Roman clay tiles and features stepped coped gables, along with brick chimney stacks at each end. The building is two storeys high and has three bays. It has a plinth and a continuous ground floor string course. The windows in bays one and two are ovolo moulded mullioned windows with three lights, while bay three has a four-light window, all without labels. Between bays two and three, there is a moulded cambered-arched doorway with a boarded door set in a deep recess. To the east, there is a later lower extension with a half-hipped roof and a three-light copy of a mullioned window below. The west gable features a projecting chimney stack with offsets. Although the interior has not been seen, it is reported to have scroll-stopped chamfered beams and a four-panel beamed ceiling at the west end. The east room on the first floor has a plaster rib ceiling with Tudor roses and a frieze decorated with pegasus motifs, along with tie-beam roof trusses.
