Description

Midknowle Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse dating to 1853. It is constructed of brick, rendered and with Doulting stone dressings, and has a double Roman clay tile roof with stepped coped gables and ball finials. A central brick chimney stack rises from the roof. The two-storey farmhouse with an attic has two bays. The west elevation incorporates plain end pilasters and 16-pane sash windows within keystoned segmental-arched openings. A projecting, flat-roofed stone porch with a plinth, cornice moulds, and a shallow parapet is positioned between the bays. It has double, part-glazed doors, a small wood lattice porch, and a rectangular plaque above with the raised lettering "BW/1853". Matching windows are found in the north gable end. The interior was not inspected during the listing process.

A brick wall, in Flemish bond, extends from the northwest corner. It has stone copings, brick piers with pyramidal caps, and an arrow-pointed railed gate with urn finials to the supports. A low railing with arrowheads runs from one gatepier, back one meter north of the house gable, returning to the northeast corner, and contributes to the setting of the farmhouse.
