Description
The war memorial in the churchyard of St Mary Magdalene is a First World War memorial, built around 1920 and restored in 1991. It is made of Doulting limestone and features an octagonal stepped base and pedestal, which has bronze plaques on two sides inscribed with the names of the fallen. The memorial is topped with a tapered octagonal shaft that has slender crocketed pinnacles on alternate sides, and an Iona cross with a sheathed sword and wreath at the front. Additionally, there is a plaque commemorating those who died in the Second World War. This memorial is a well-designed example of its kind, showcasing fine detailing and is located in the churchyard.
