Description
Castle Cary Health Foods Colletts Shop and Restaurant is a row of shops dating from the early 19th century. The building is constructed of brick in Flemish bond and is colourwashed, topped with a Welsh slate roof that has no chimney stacks. It stands two storeys high and features four bays.
On the upper level, there are 2-light horizontal-bar casement windows. The ground floor includes a segmental curved bow window with 8+12+8 pane sashes in the first bay on the left, which is topped by a flat roof. To the right of this window is a six-flush-panel door that is partially glazed, set within an architrave and topped with a simple open pediment hood. Spanning the second and third bays is an early 20th-century shopfront that slightly projects and has a narrow fascia, with a central recessed door. Between the third and fourth bays, there is a 20th-century glazed door in a recess and a small sash window in the fourth bay. The interiors were not seen. This building is included primarily for its group value.
