Description
Fox and Sons, with Elizabeth Crossley, is a shop and offices built in the early 19th century. It is constructed from Cary stone that is cut and squared, with Doulting dressings and a Welsh slate roof behind a parapet. The building has two storeys and two bays, featuring a lias stone plinth, a cornice, and a plain ashlar parapet with simple coping. The upper section has 12-pane sash windows set in toothed ashlar surrounds, while the lower section has two matching detailed shopfronts, likely from the late 19th century, complete with fascias and hoodmoulds. The left shopfront is simple, while the right has a later glazed door set in a recess to the right. Between the bays, there is a six-panelled door with a glazed toplight, framed by an architrave. Additionally, there are two wrought iron brackets for hanging signs at first floor level, positioned to the right of each window. The interiors have not been seen.
