Description
The Old Dairy House is a house dating from the 17th century, with early 18th-century additions. It is constructed from local lias stone that is cut, squared, and coursed, with Ham stone dressings. The south gable is rendered, and it features a plain clay tile roof between copings, along with brick end chimney stacks. Originally built in an 'L' shape during the 17th century, it was converted to a 'T' plan by a 19th-century addition. The house is two stories tall and has five bays, with the second and third bays projecting.
The entrance door, located in bay 3, is boarded and set in a heavy cambered-arch frame within a slight recess, accessed by two steps. Bays 1, 2, and 3 feature ovolo moulded mullioned windows with rectangular leaded panes and label mouldings; bay 1 has four lights, bay 2 has three lights on the lower part, and the rest are two-light windows. Bays 4 and 5 have early 12-pane sash windows with thick glazing bars, and this portion of the building is taller. Additionally, there are two 20th-century circular windows in the south gable wall.
