Description
The base of a cross, likely from the 15th century, is located in the churchyard, 2 metres west of the north porch of the Church of the Holy Trinity in Wyke Champflower. It is made of Doulting stone and measures approximately 700 millimetres square and 250 millimetres high, with the top corners chamfered and showing significant weathering. This base is probably the socket from 'Wyke Cross', which in the 18th century had three steps and most of its shaft. In the 19th century, a signpost was set into a mortice in the base, and it previously stood at the crossroads, although the date of its relocation is unknown.
