Description

The Crease family monument is an altar tomb located in the churchyard about 27 meters south of the chancel of the Church of St Peter and St Paul. It dates from the early 19th century and is made of blue lias stone. The monument has a roughly square shape with a ledger top and a chamfered cornice. There is no visible plinth, and it features recessed panels inscribed with the name of Sarah Leakey, who died in 1827, on the east end, and inscriptions for members of the Crease family on the north and south sides. This design is considered unusual for the West Somerset area.
