Description

This is a detached farmhouse dating from the late 15th and early 16th centuries, with later modifications in the late 16th century and subsequent periods. The farmhouse is constructed of ham stone coursed rubble with ashlar dressings, and has a thatched roof with a coped west gable. The east gable is plain, and there are brick chimney stacks. It is two storeys high and consists of four bays. The windows are hollow-chamfered mullioned, set within chamfered recesses. The ground floor windows are predominantly 4-light, while the first-floor windows are of 3, 2, blank, and 3 lights, though they are not all to the same detail – the lower bay 4 features unworked top mitres, and the lower windows have labels. A blocked oculus window is present in the upper bay 3, along with a small, late 19th-century casement window to the left of the lower bay 1. A 20th-century door is set within an adapted heavy frame, within a 20th-century timber porch in the lower bay 2. A timber lean-to garage is attached to the west gable, and there is a lean-to extension at the rear. The interior is reported to include a cross-passage, a four-panel beamed ceiling, and at least two jointed-cruck roof trusses.
