Description

A farmhouse dating from the late 16th to early 17th century, with a roof raised in the 19th century. The house is built of random rubble chert stone with Ham stone dressings, and has a slate roof featuring decorative ridge tiles. Chimneys of 19th-century brick are located on the gable ends and to the right of the through passage. The original plan was of a three-cell design with a cross passage. The house has two storeys and 1:2 bays. The first floor has 3-light wooden casements, and a small Ham stone lancet window illuminates the stairwell to the right of the entrance. The ground floor has 4-light stone mullioned windows with hoodmoulds. A 6-panel door with inserted lights is located between the first and second bays on the left side of the house. The left-hand gable end fronting the road is rendered. There is a single-storey outshut to the rear. The interior was not inspected; however, the stairwell window suggests the original winder stair was positioned against the front wall within the hall.
